2024 Tour
June 09, 2024 – Rockhal, Luxembourg
The ’90s alt-rock trio – comprising vocalist Bret Domrose, drummer Rob Mailhouse and bassist Keanu Reeves – have made their comeback after releasing their first album in 23 years, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees in October 2023, staying true to their origins as an authentic Southern California storytelling rock band.
In their 2024 tour European leg, they landed to a full venue at the Rockhal in Luxembourg. Most of the fans went to see the Hollywood star and were not necessarily familiar with the band’s music. In fact, the audience was mainly interested in capturing Keanu Reeves on their phones than in particpating in the musical experience. A prevailing sense of unimpressive engagement between the crowd and the band was palpable, even though the band delivered a professional performance playing impeccably a mix of classics and new tracks. To his credit, Keanu tried to downplay his celebrity status and spent most of his time trying to blend into the scenery, or rather, into the synergy of the band. His performance was steady, providing the anchor to the band’s sound, but even his star power couldn’t rescue the evening.
The quite short show (around an hour) unfortunately added to the prevailing sense of an underwhelming experience.
