August 08, 2024 – Den Atelier, Luxembourg
Although KISS played their last concert on December 2, 2023 at Madison Square Garden in NYC, singer-bassist and co-founder Gene Simmons is still rocking out with his solo band.
The current line-up of Gene Simmons’ solo band includes several experienced and well-known musicians: guitarists Brent Woods (Sebastian Bach and Vince Neil) and Zach Throne (Corey Taylor) along with drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Slash’s Snakepit, Foreigner…).
A savvy businessman with a variety of ventures and projects under his belt (from his own record label to restaurants, books, merchandising, films and television, philanthropy), Simmons has had an impact that reaches well beyond the music industry.
The show featured a stack of KISS’ classics and covers of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” and Van Halen’s “House of Pain” (not a random cover: Simmons produced a demo version of “House of Pain” for Van Halen back in 1976, after discovering the band in a small club in Los Angeles).
Simmons does not need to embody the “Demon” from KISS to displays his great charisma on stage: he still has a magnetic and powerful presence, accentuated by his towering figure. He exudes an unshakeable self-assurance and is very comfortable in engaging with the crowd: he invites fans and children on stage, makes them sing and fools around. You can tell he is genuinely having fun.
Accompanied by a tight band of highly skilled musician, his performance is a captivating and unforgettable experience.
