August 13, 2025 – Stade de France, Paris
Under a heavy, sweltering Parisian sky, 80,000 sets of glowing red horns transformed the stadium into a pulsing sea of crimson. The heat was stifling, but the rock gods had a plan for the “Power Up” takeover.
Just as the opening riff of “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” tore through the speakers, the heavens opened. A much-needed downpour began, catching the crowd by surprise. Within minutes, we were absolutely drenched, but the effect was the opposite of a dampener—it was a literal and figurative refreshment. The cool rain washing over the sweltering stadium left us completely rejuvenated and, if possible, even more pumped up to embrace the chaos.
At 71, Angus Young remains the engine room. Clad in his signature velvet schoolboy suit he doesn’t just play the guitar; he wrestles it. During the 20-minute solo of “Let There Be Rock,” he proved that his blues-infused shredding hasn’t lost an ounce of its bite.
Brian Johnson, whose return is nothing short of a miracle after his hearing struggles years ago, delivered a grit-and-gravel performance that anchored the night. While he may lean on the crowd for some of the higher register screams, his charisma remains unmatched. Newcomers Chris Chaney (bass) and Matt Laug (drums) have seamlessly locked into the band’s legendary “pocket,” providing the unwavering stomp that allows the Youngs’ riffs to soar (Angus’ nephew Stevie Young joined the lineup at the rhythm guitar in 2014, honouring the legacy of his uncle Malcolm Young after Malcolm’s retirement due to dementia and his eventual passing in 2017).
The setlist was a high-energy barrage focusing heavily on the pillars of Back in Black and Highway to Hell, while also weaving in newer hits like “Shot in the Dark” and “Demon Fire”. Angus Young, soaked through his schoolboy uniform by song two, delivered a masterclass in blues-rock shredding alongside Brian Johnson’s signature roar .
Crowd favorites like “Thunderstruck” and “You Shook Me All Night Long” turned the stadium into a massive, unified choir .The night reached its thunderous conclusion as the traditional cannons roared and fireworks illuminated the sky during “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” . It was an unforgettable, high-voltage salute to rock immortality that proved AC/DC remains the tightest, loudest and most essential live act on the planet—rain or shine.
